Sedgley gardens are often on a slope, which can make them hard to use. A level patio, with steps and retaining walls where needed, can turn a sloping garden into one you actually spend time in.
We lay patios on a full mortar bed with the right falls, and build steps and walls to deal with the levels. Free site visit, fixed written price.

With a slope, the patio might be cut into the hill with a wall behind it, or built up with a wall in front. We work out which suits your garden on the visit.
Steps need to be comfortable to use, not just look good. We build them with even risers and a proper landing at the top and bottom.
In Upper Gornal, Lower Gornal and Woodsetton, many back gardens climb away from the house, with the lawn above the back door. In that case the patio is usually cut into the slope, with a retaining wall at the back and steps up to the lawn. The wall needs drainage behind it, otherwise water builds up in the bank and pushes on it after heavy rain.
Around Cotwall End and Gospel End, some gardens fall away from the house instead, with views out over open ground. There the patio is built up, with a wall at the front and steps down, and the edge needs to be safe and solid. A low wall or a planted edge stops the drop being a hazard and frames the view.
Hilly gardens make access harder. Materials often have to be barrowed up or down steps, and waste has to come back the same way. We plan that on the visit and include it in the price. It is also why we keep slabs to sizes two people can carry safely on a slope.
The finished patio needs to sit below the damp proof course of the house and fall gently away from it, so rain runs into the garden rather than against the walls. We check the levels and the access on the site visit, including how materials get in if there is no side gate.
Most back garden patios do not need planning permission. If your home is listed or in a conservation area, check with Dudley Council before work starts, and we will happily talk it through with you.
On Sedgley's hillside plots we look first at where the water goes in heavy rain, because a new hard surface can change where it runs, and the house should never be at the bottom of it.
We cover all of Sedgley, including Upper Gornal, Lower Gornal, Woodsetton, Cotwall End and Gospel End. Sedgley is about four miles south of Wolverhampton, so we are never far away. If you are not sure whether we cover your street, call us and we will tell you straight away.
